Our courses are articulated through ASSIST.org, so you can see exactly how they're designed to transfer to CSU and UC campuses. Because how a course is applied can vary — especially for currently enrolled or dual-enrolled students — we strongly recommend meeting with both a Río Hondo counselor and your university advisor before enrolling, so you know exactly how the credit will apply to your degree.
A 3-unit GE course is still 3 units—no matter where you take it. The only difference? What you pay.
Four steps from "I should look into this" to "I'm enrolled."

The things every university student asks before enrolling.
ASSIST.org shows how Río Hondo courses are articulated to CSU and UC campuses, including which GE area each course is designed to satisfy. However, how a course is applied to your degree can depend on your situation — for example, some UCs only honor GE articulation as part of a full IGETC/GE certification, and rules can differ for students who are already enrolled at the university or taking the course as a dual-enrolled student.
Because of that, we strongly recommend talking with both a Río Hondo counselor and your current university advisor before you enroll, so you can confirm exactly how the credit will apply to your specific degree path.
For private universities, transferability is determined by that institution — your university advisor is the best resource.
Yes — many of our students take Río Hondo courses concurrently with their CSU or UC coursework. Before enrolling, we recommend confirming two things with your university advisor:
(1) that they accept transfer credits taken during your current enrollment, and (2) how a specific Río Hondo course will be applied to your degree, since articulation can be applied differently for currently enrolled students than for incoming transfers with junior standing.
California residents pay $46 per unit. A typical 3-unit GE course is $138 plus standard fees. Non-resident and international tuition rates differ — check our tuition page for the full breakdown.
Financial Aid to cover enrollment fees is available for eligible students through the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
Additional financial aid may be available to eligible students, please contact the Rio Hondo College Financial Aid Office for more information.

Our counselors meet with prospective students — virtually or in person — to walk you through enrollment and help you build a plan that aligns with your university's degree path.
