Introducing Your Next Highly Skilled Technician!
Women In Next Generation Electronic Vehicles
NSF/ATE Grant # 22002236
The automotive industry has historically been and continues to be a male-dominated field, but as the industry evolves into electric vehicles, a new generation of technicians is needed – ones who are not afraid to work with firmware and computer technologies. Electric vehicles are clean, laptop-based, less noisy, oil-free, and contain fewer chemicals than previous vehicles.
Moving to meet the new clean vehicle mandates put into place by the Governor of California’s Executive Order N-79-20, in which all new vehicles sold in the state must be zero-emissions starting in 2035, the automotive industry is looking to bring in a new type of technician from an under-tapped and underutilized automotive workforce demographic– WOMEN. With women accounting for only 27% of the US auto manufacturing workforce, the automotive industry is striving to help support women on their path into becoming Electronic Vehicle Technicians.
Here at Rio Hondo WING-EV program, we prepare students for success in the rapidly evolving field of electric vehicles. Our program is designed to meet the expectations of our industry partners, and the following courses are required to complete the training:
Upon completing these courses, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement as an Automotive EV Specialist, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a meaningful impact in the future of transportation.
